These straight-flute thread mills have a staggered-tooth design that reduces side-cutting pressure in thread-milling applications. They can be used for internal and external threading applications. The thread mills have a TiAlN coating that withstands high temperatures and protects the thread mills from wear when milling hard materials. The TiAlN coating allows the thread mills to be used at faster speeds than thread mills with a bright finish. These thread mills are made entirely from carbide, which offers excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness. Straight-flute thread mills are suitable for general purpose thread-milling applications. They provide good strength but require a rigid machine setup.
