Finding the correct slip-on windshield will depend on the type, length and diameter of the microphone. Slip-on windshields are designed for cylindrical shotgun mics, ranging from 19-25 mm in diameter. The <b>Rycote 033072</b> Softie Windshield provides a quick, simple, robust and cost effective windshield for the tough environment of modern day ENG and location recording. It is a great match for the Audio Technica AT835b, AT8035 and Azden SGM-2X</p><p>The Softie Windshield is a slip-on open-cell foam, with integral fur cover. The Softie will reduce wind-noise, protect your mic and is the standard world wide in TV. Softie windshields are available in a large range of sizes to fit most popular shotgun microphones. </p><p>Both the acoustic foam and synthetic fur are made from materials which are specially designed and manufactured for the purpose, and as a result up to 25 dB of wind-noise reduction without any adverse effect on High-Frequency. In addition the foam is not susceptible to UV or moisture damage, giving this product great longevity. <br />Advanced materials, adhesives and assembly techniques all combine to make the Softie an extremely tough product that provides excellent wind protection in the harshest of environments.</p><p>The Softie Windshield can be purchased either on its own, or as part of a Kit, which includes a Windshield, Lyre shock-mount and Pistol-grip. </p><p>Softie Windshields come in two varieties of fur length, classic and short hair. The short haired Softie, known as the Camera-Mounted Softie has closely cropped dark grey synthetic fur, offers lower profile and a more compact design without severely altering the efficiency of the Softie. It can also be mounted close to the camera lens without causing unwanted shadows.</p>
For several years, Rycote InVision mounts have been available for narrow-barrelled shotgun and stick microphones in broadcast and videography applications, but not until 2010, and the release of the striking Universal Studio Mount (USM) was there an InVision shock-mount capable of accommodating large-diaphragm recording microphones for use in recording studios.</p><p> Like the other InVision mounts, the USM makes use of Rycote's patented vibration-resistant Lyre mount, but on this mount the W-shaped Lyres are placed around a central mounting ring with adjustable fasteners, allowing the USM to accommodate any microphone with a diameter of between 18 and 68 millimetres. </p><p> The Rycote USM updates the concept of the microphone suspension for the 21st century, completely omitting any elasticated parts and using modern materials to create a virtually indestructible shock-mount with a performance that far outstrips that of the humble 'cat's cradle' suspension. In controlled tests at the Rycote factory, the USM provided up to twice the isolation of traditional microphone suspension systems.</p><p> The existing InVision USM can be used to mount microphones from 18 to 55mm in diameter, and thus accommodates most studio recording microphones, but the new InVision USM-VB will hold the broadest large-diaphragm models from 55mm to 68mm.</p>

If you use microphones outdoors regularly, you'll know that wind conditions are often bad enough that a simple foam microphone windshield isn't enough to prevent the sound of the wind disrupting your recordings.</p><p>Rycote's larger products, such as the Softie kit or full-scale modular windshields are excellent solutions for larger microphones, but if you only need to protect a small microphone from the wind, such as the built-in mic on a camcorder or handheld digital recorder, you don't need one of these customised, expensive solutions - a Mini Windjammer will suffice.</p><p>These simple, easy-to-fit products are made from synthetic fur designed to absorb the impact of the wind so that it doesn't reach your microphone and are available in a variety of types, with different fur lengths. Some may even be added over the top of the existing foam windshield on a handheld microphone to afford extra protection from the wind.</p>

The Modular Windshield Kit is the professionals' choice when maximum isolation from wind and handling noise is required.<br />This complete modular system can be configured to allow almost any microphone to be shock-mounted and provided with varying degrees of windshielding. The patented Lyre are extremely robust, and virtually unbreakable, as they do not use no elastic or rubber components which are prone to wear and tear. These completely backward compatible Lyre have replaced the original silicone O-rings suspension, and can be bought separately to upgrade older suspensions.</p><p>The Lyre has now been enhanced further with a soft-grip internal surface on the mic clip. The soft-grip helps prevent the mic twisting or slipping, and stops the clip scratching the surface of the microphones which are powder-coated. The standard individual Lyres are now available in three different hardness' which allow users to choose a soft more compliant suspension for light, short microphones or stiffer hardness for longer microphones. </p><p>The different hardness' can be easily identified by their new colour combinations. The lower the number, the softer the Shore hardness. So 62 shore is softer that 72 shore, and 82 shore is the stiffest we make.
