The shackle mounts bolt into the rear of the frame rail. They do require trimming the frame rail off flush to the rear cross member. If you ever decide to mount a full bumper the trimming does not remove any vital material from the frame and will allow for change in the future if you decide.<br><br>The JK Rear Shackles were designed with strength in mind. The shackle mount features a massive 3/4 inch thick steel plate that extends all the way into the frame with (2) 3/4 inch bolts passing all the way through the frame to capture it. The kit is shipped bare metal so you will need to paint or powdercoat to the color of your choice. The hardware required to install them is included with the part. 4 x 3/4 inch grade 8 bolts, flat washers, and fabricated nuts.<br>
