The Niles Audio DS7HD 7-inch Left, Center or Right Channel In-Ceiling / In-Wall Speaker was designed for 5.1 and 7.1 channel home theater systems as the left, right and/or center channel. The Directed Soundfield (DS) woofer pivot mechanism enables the speaker to direct the sound to optimum the listening area. The 7-inch IMPACT (IMProved Aluminum Ceramic Technology) woofer cone provides a natural, flat response. The 1-inch nano-coated IMPACT dome tweeter utilizes a vapor deposited coating for ultra-detailed high frequencies and pivots independently of the woofer to provide additional control of the sound. The three-position tweeter switch allows you to adjust the high frequency output of the loudspeaker to compensate for room acoustics. The center position does not affect the tweeters output. Moving the switch to the - position reduces the tweeter output by 3 dB to compensate for bright rooms (tile or wood floors, spare furnishing, tall ceilings). Moving the switch to the position increases the tweeter output by 3 dB to compensate for absorptive rooms (carpeting, lots of drapery, plush furniture, etc.). A dialog compensation switch provides additional definition at critical midrange frequencies where the human voice is reproduced, generally used only for home theater center speaker applications. To complete a 5.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound system, use a DS7HD for each of the front left, front right and front center channels and match it with the Niles DS7FX 7-inch Surround Effects In-Ceiling / In-Wall Speakers, for the side and rear channels. Please Note: DS Series speakers from Niles are designed for an in-ceiling (ceiling mount) installation as their primary application, but can be used for an in-wall (wall mount) application as well.
