I will also say that the smell will stick to the underside of your wrists, so just be aware of that. Weird biases aside, I do appreciate that it\'s not actually made with gel, and the firmness is perfect for my wrists (they sink in about half a centimeter into the pad). So far, with moderate use, there are no peels or any signs of wear on my pad. The length is also perfect for my keyboard and mouse combo; I have a Razr keyboard that\'s about 15.5 inches (it\'s compact, but I like it), so I can also use my mouse perfectly fine next to my keyboard. I think the fairly cheap price is good also because it\'s not too expensive to replace if something does happen to your pad.<br><br>If there are any updates, this review will reflect that. I came from an MSI 1060 6GB that performed like a champ. I sold it to a coworker and put the money towards a card that I hoped would give me higher, more consistent framerates in the triple-digit range than my 1060 (at 1080p). Currently, my three most oft-played games are Destiny 2, The Witcher 3 and Doom 2016.<br><br>Doom runs like a champ on just about any hardware configuration, and even at 4K this card will barely break a sweat.<br><br>Destiny 2 is all over the place, running the gamut between being a cakewalk (indoor locations mostly) and a potential chore (this tends to apply more to the CPU).<br><br>Witcher 3 gives this card the greatest workout of the trio. With Nvidia Hairworks on, FPS typically sits in the 70\xe2\x80\x99s. Turn that setting off and you\xe2\x80\x99ll generally stay in the triple-digit range.<br><br>So as far as raw, on-paper performance goes, the 2060S sounds like a killer. Combine that with the Gaming X\xe2\x80\x99s lovely looks and it\xe2\x80\x99s difficult to not be swooned.<br><br>However, there are a couple additional points I\xe2\x80\x99d like to make.<br><br>First, my particular card has coil whine. This is an unfortunate occurrence that some people simply get stuck with, and it can be a dealbreaker or a mild inconvenience. My PC already runs loud while gaming thanks to its fans and the custom curve I have set for my CPU cooler which, when combined with gaming on either my speakers or headphones, can make the coil whine irrelevant. However, there are quieter moments in games that will make the coil whine almost painfully apparent. It doesn\xe2\x80\x99t completely ruin the experience, but it definitely sours the purchase of a $400+ graphics card.<br><br>Next is a contentious but also seemingly common observation: stutters and/or frametime spikes. While it\xe2\x80\x99s entirely possible I may have experienced this with my 1060, I either didn\xe2\x80\x99t notice them or they happened way less frequently. It\xe2\x80\x99s also worth keeping in mind that my CPU is a 4 core/4 thread i5-7600K overclocked to 4.5GHz. It may have less breathing room than other, more modern CPUs, but generally speaking, games don\xe2\x80\x99t use much more than 4 cores (if that). Yet with the 2060S, stutters from frametime spikes (which rarely coincide with any other metric changing) seem more frequent.<br><br>I\xe2\x80\x99ve attempted to solve this with just about every troubleshooting step under the sun, including multiple driver reinstallations (via DDU), changing performance and power management settings in both Windows and Nvidia control panel, rendering games at higher resolutions via DSR, and even a full Windows reinstallation. This includes wiping all three of my drives. These steps mitigate the issue, but it still inevitably pops up.<br><br>Furthermore, I\xe2\x80\x99ve done some research on this, and it appears that many other folks are experiencing similar issues, even with CPUs such as the 2600 (which have 6 cores/12 threads as opposed to mine). While this isn\xe2\x80\x99t limited to the RTX cards, they definitely seem to be the most commonly affected. I\xe2\x80\x99ve even heard of people selling their RTX cards for Pascal cards, calling such a shift an \xe2\x80\x9cupgrade.\xe2\x80\x9d<br><br>I\xe2\x80\x99m not entirely sure if this has to do with the specific unit I got or if it\xe2\x80\x99s something else on a hardware, software and/or driver level, but as I\xe2\x80\x99ve clearly pointed out, it is an issue. Sometimes I can look past it, but other times the stutters are quite distracting and sour my purchase more than the aforementioned coil whine. Even if it is a personal experience and everyone else that buys this card is content, it still makes me feel like I took one step forward and one to two steps back with my purchase.<br><br>If you\xe2\x80\x99re considering an RTX card, then tread lightly.<br><br>Update: Bumping score to 4 stars.<br><br>Since posting this review, I upgraded my CPU from a 7600K to a 2700X and have had a considerably superior experience in games. Spikes do still occur and the coil whine is still a factor, but my now-former quad-core was definitely a factor in the aforementioned symptoms.
