The Pandemic on the Brink expansion adds new challenges to the base game, allowing players to face more difficult scenarios. Three exciting challenges are introduced: Virulent Strain, Mutation, and Bio-Terrorist. These challenges can be played individually or combined for a major test. The expansion includes seven new roles and eight new event cards, increasing variety and experimentation possibilities. Players can also adjust the difficulty level by adding Epidemic cards, reaching Legendary difficulty with seven cards.
