Straight Flute Hand Tap , #12-28 , Taper , 4 Flutes, UNF
Taper chamfer hand tap. 7 - 10 incomplete threads before cutting. Used in all types of hand and machine tool operations for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ground thread for better surface finish and tighter tolerances. Known as a starter tap. Best used for tapping a through hole, but may also be used in a blind hole that has ample clearance at the bottom of the hole. Also, effective when tapping hardened steels. Manufactured from high-speed steel. Use for tapping in carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Made in the USA.
