Homeowners typically use a carbon air filter to help remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as odors, smoke and/or gases from the air. Odorous gases and vapors are attracted to and held by the unique properties of the activated carbon media. Carbon is especially good at killing odors because of how it reacts with particles.
